The following competitors highlight the range of available concrete solutions
Our extensive global research did not find any solution that combines the GEM-TECHTM benefits of being lighter and more affordable than ready mixed concrete, whilst being more heat-tolerant, moisture resistant and comparable in strength. The following competitors highlight the range of available concrete solutions.
-
Lafarge
Top global producer of concrete based in France. 2011 revenues of more than $18.77 billon with sales exceeding 202 million tons of gravel aggregate.
Strengths: Lafarge offer 500 ‘tailor made’ concrete formulations, but nothing that is lighter in weight and comparably strong. Announced plan to invest 150 million Euros in Research & Development annually as of January 2012.
Weakness: No lightweight concrete solution with comparable strength.
-
Holcim
Second largest global producer of concrete, a Swiss company with 2011 revenues of more than $21.26 billion.
Strengths: They enjoy global reach, have numerous subsidiaries and are a top manufacturer and distributor of cement.
Weakness: No lightweight concrete solution with comparable strength.
-
Cellular Concrete Technologies
Markets STABLEAIR™ technology, which introduces air bubbles into concrete to decrease density and is one of many cellular or ‘foam’ concrete solutions on the market. STABLEAIR™ is one of many variations on cellular concrete, also known as foam concrete, which is recognised as a lightweight alternative to traditional concrete for non-structural applications.
Strengths: Patented technology. Claims to enable low-density concrete, strengths up to 7,500 psi.
Weakness: Offers only a foaming agent and foam-generating machine. Does not provide a mechanism to enable complete blending, binding, and homogenous mixture. Technical claims do not deliver a weight-to-strength ratio comparable to GEM-TECHTM . Adds the costs of the foaming agent and foam-generating machine without removing any existing concrete production or transportation costs.
